Before having anesthesia for surgery, childbirth, pain management, or any other procedure, the AANA advises patients to learn as much as they can about their anesthesia options; the do's and don’ts before and after anesthesia; how other medications interact with anesthetic drugs; possible side effects of anesthesia, and more. By educating yourself as much as possible, you will become an informed “partner” in your own anesthesia care.
Founded in 1931, the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) is a professional association representing more than 59,000 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and student registered nurse anesthetists nationwide.
The Arkansas Association of Nurse Anesthetists (ARANA) is a not for profit organization representing over 500 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) in the state of Arkansas. Through education and advocacy, our goal is to allow the delivery of affordable, high quality, and accessible anesthesia care by CRNAs.
The National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) is the nation’s certifying body for the initial, continued and subspecialty certification of the more than 55,000 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). Our primary responsibility is to guard the well-being of the public by seeking to ensure that those who secure the CRNA credential have the necessary knowledge and skills to practice safely and effectively. We accomplish our mission through the development and implementation of credentialing programs that support lifelong learning among nurse anesthetists.
Established by the Arkansas Legislature in 1913 to safeguard the life and health of its citizens, the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) achieves its mission by developing standards for safe nursing care, approval of nursing schools and regulating licenses to practice nursing.
Rigorous coursework with bountiful clinical experiences prepares our students for the national certification exam offered by the NBCRNA. Once certified, graduates from UTC may begin work immediately as a CRNA, without the need for additional on-the-job training or work-related orientation.
